Electronics, orchestral power, urban subculture, and modern sound architecture converge in the work of Michael Kadelbach. His music shapes internationally acclaimed, award-winning film and television productions as well as major live events.
His musical language grew from the intersection of studio experimentation, classical training, and early work in film. Early in his career, he composed scores for short films while simultaneously working with hip-hop, indie, and electronic music; experiences that would later inform a focused and disciplined approach to storytelling through sound.
From this foundation, he developed a distinctive style defined by precision, restraint, and narrative awareness. Electronic textures, orchestral force, and urban influences are not used as surface elements, but as tools in service of narrative. His music does not comment on images; it moves with them, shaping story and rhythm from within.
Space and silence are integral to this approach. His music leaves room for images and performance, adding only what the story requires, allowing scenes to breathe rather than be underscored.
For the series One Trillion Dollars, he received the German Film Music Award 2024, shared with Martina Eisenreich, in recognition of a musical voice grounded in clarity and dramaturgical control rather than spectacle. His work includes international productions such as Naked Among the Wolves (Emmy-nominated, German Television Award winner), the Netflix series Perfume, the Amazon series We Children from Bahnhof Zoo, Netflix films including Isi & Ossi and 60 Minutes, as well as documentary projects like Children of the Taliban (BAFTA Winner 2023) and Weltmarktführer (Grimme Award).
